A Review of The Burn by Haylie Pomroy
As you might know by now, I’m a big fan of cooking, and I love making healthy food. But just like everyone else, my diet was completely derailed by Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’m still getting back on track! If you feel the same way and your New Year’s resolution to drop a few pounds hasn’t kicked in yet, I have a recommendation for you: Check out Haylie Pomroy’s book: The Burn.
I first read The Burn a few years ago, but I revisited it last month. It’s really helpful whenever my weight plateaus and I need to kick things into high gear. The book includes three different diets. One helps you lose 3 pounds in 3 days, another 5 pounds in 5 days, and the third 10 pounds in 10 days.
That probably sounds too good to be true, but I swear it’s not a scam. Pomroy is a wellness consultant and nutritional counselor who knows her stuff. The grocery lists, recipes, meal plans, and “success boosters” that go with every diet in The Burn are focused on getting you plenty of micronutrients that repair whatever is wrong with your body. These foods, teas, herbs, and spices boost your metabolism. Combined, they also remove roadblocks like inflammation, water retention, digestive problems, and hormonal imbalances.
As Pomroy puts it, “Your body is a beautifully complex laboratory of biochemical reactions, and all it takes is one thing to get you stuck and [get] everything to go wrong.” Through The Burn she helps people unstick those things. Every time I try one of the diets in The Burn, I’m amazed by the difference I see in my body in just a few days. All of the meal plans are anti-inflammatory, so you don’t have to starve yourself to see results. Even when I’m not following one of the diets to a T, I like to cook Pomroy’s recipes because they’re just that good.
